As a supervisor and in life, I communicate directly but am by no means directive in action (unless you're in my kitchen, then I might start giving orders). I work collaboratively with supervisees, offering a good dose of curiosity, humility, humor, and authenticity. The natural world deeply influences me. This shows up in my supervision style as a holistic approach that considers the many aspects of self we encompass and how they shape the therapeutic space we hold.
With the same holistic approach in mind, I expect supervisees to consider how you, as a whole, may affect your therapeutic space. I do not expect perfection, and would like to be held to the same standard. There will never be a time in life when you or I are all-knowing, and therefore, we both continue down our own developmental path. I expect honesty, accountability, and clear communication. I have never been gifted at mind reading and refuse to make assumptions, so without strong communication, honesty to self, and accountability, I am limited in how I can support you. I ask you to be willing to be open to different perspectives, challenge your own rigidity, and expect to make mistakes.
The topics I feel I have expertise in: Ambiguous loss, trauma processing, identity work and self-exploration, self-confidence, life transitions, and neurodiversity.
The modalities I feel comfortable with supervising: ACT, DBT, EMDR, Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, existential therapy, person-centered, and somatic therapy.
